Colin Evans MA RCC

About me

Colin is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. He graduated with his Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Colin has served the White Rock / South Surrey community with counselling services through Sources Community Resources, The Counselling Group, and this private practice, Evans-Carlson Counselling.

Expertise

Colin has a passion for helping individuals manage difficult life transitions, including early adulthood, career changes, and relationship difficulties. He is effective in supporting individuals within the LGBTQ+ community; specifically issues of Coming Out, navigating family and faith communities, as well as identity exploration.

Approach

Colin is an approachable counsellor who is easy to talk to. He ensures clients feel supported and understood in the time together. Colin offers perspective to client concerns and fears to help them better navigate their worries. He utilizes a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Narrative Therapy to help clients better understand their life and partners with them to write their next chapter, better than the last.

David Carlson MA RCC

About Me

David is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors since 2011. He completed his Masters in Counselling Psychology at Trinity Western University. David worked for 10 years with MCFD Child and Youth Mental Health supporting families impacted by mental illness.

Expertise

David has significant experience working with couples navigating relational difficulty and sexual dysfunction. He works effectively with the LGBTQ+ community and also those practicing polyamory / ethical monogamy. David enjoys treating OCD and offering mental health treatment for those struggling with anxiety and depression.

Approach

David offers a combined approach to counselling sessions; mixing both space for the client to feel heard and supported, along with offering the client helpful perspective and mental health education applicable to the client’s concerns. David utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy as well drawing from the Gottman Method for his work with couples. Exposure Response Prevention is the evidenced based intervention he used to treat OCD. David values client feedback on sessions and provides practical next steps at the conclusion of each session. You can expect a warm, practical, and collaborative approach to your work with this counsellor.
